Adding grace to northern Jaipur, Capital city of Rajasthan, the Nahargarh Fort is located on one of the oldest range of hills, the Aravalli Hills. Lying just below the Jaigarh fort and having a long extended wall which connects it to Amer Fort, Nahargarh Fort is one of the best attraction areas for tourists of Jaipur.

History of Nahargarh Fort

Further extension of NaharGarh Fort was carried out in 1983-92 by Sawai Madho Singh. He built a range of Palaces in the Fort. There were suits for the queens of Maharaja. A separate suite for each queen was constructed and above these a suite for Maharaja was constructed. The fort never faced any battle all through its history but some treaties were signed in the fort. For some time the fort became a safeguard shelter for some Europeans.

Mysteries related to Nahargarh Fort

It is supposed that initially the Nahargarh fort was named Sudarshangarh. While it being constructed it faced some problems. The constructors realized every morning that there last days construction was destroyed in night. Maharaja found out the reason with the help of some tantric that the soul of Raja Nahar Singh Bhomia dint like this construction. Then a temple in the name of Raja Nahar Singh Bhomia was built in the fort and name of the fort was changed to Nahargarh. After then the construction carried out smoothly.
